The collegiate church was founded by Margrave Albrecht III in 1298 and built until the mid-14th century. The most prestigious church in the New March area. Until the 1530s it was a Roman Catholic church, then Protestant and now, since 1945, Roman Catholic again. The building has been redeveloped and extended several times. A multi-pillared building, in its final form consisting of a nave, a separate presbytery with vestry, a side chapel and a massive multi-storey tower on the west side. The individual parts of the building are covered with gabled roofs, the tower with a conical cupola. The building was entered in the register of historical monuments due to its historical, architectural and spatial values.
